From insatiable desires to satiated reality!

According to me, this is exactly how we start at the age of 20. We are energetic & full of fresh desires. But then life happens. We are unaware of what time has in store for us. With every passing decade, we become more aware of our opportunities & our capabilities. We now come to terms with our reality. We settle in by 40.

I am celebrating four decades around the sun & might be ready to chase a new horizon. So far, this is what I have understood about life between 20 & 40 for Women & Men.

Women:

Teething trouble with husband, in-laws, new surroundings … when this is barely over, it overlaps with teething trouble of pregnancy. That in turn leads to the teething trouble of becoming a new parent …

Parenting is entirely a different subject. Basically, you are always in a ‘situation’. Mostly because you & your child being constant, the age varies!

Though motherhood itself is a full-time job, it’s an unpaid & thankless job. This means that there is an entirely different frustration attached to it. Anyways, while juggling between being a mother, you also have to perform the duties of a wife, a daughter-in-law, and a good employee.

But by 40, you have managed to multitask between your husband, in-laws, surroundings, your boss & well a bit with your kids. Now life moves on in autopilot mode. Mostly everything is in sync. That’s like a pat on your back!

Men:

Teething trouble finding a good job (usually a right job is an illusion), sticking to it & then being able to climb the ladder, or else find a new one with fewer complications or politics…

This coincides with getting married, understanding the new person & trying to balance career & family.

While you figure out how to put pieces of your life’s puzzles together, you realise there are more coming… children! Handling the critical pregnancy mood swings at home & boss's mood swings simultaneously at work is the biggest challenge.

But by 40 you have become a pro in juggling work, career & responsibilities. Handling competitions & expectations, you have managed to create a small empire too. That’s like a task achieved!

I feel, by 40, you are settled in life!

Either you are settled Settled or you have come to terms with life & so are Settled.
