Being lazy isn’t so bad.

I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it.

- Bill Gates

I came across this quote & I loved it. But it also set me thinking about it. Curiosity filled me with the way laziness is looked upon.

One thing that I have noticed is that laziness is mostly referred to as a negative quality. But after I read this quote, I wondered, is it? It’s time we change it. Change is inevitable. On a lighter note, these days, there are so many changes going on, ‘lazy’ better catch up. ‘Lazy’ is simply not standing up for itself, too lazy! We are now using it as our punching bags. We have pushed it so much on the negative side that now we can’t think of it as something useful.

For example, When I don’t complete my work on time “I am lazy”, but when my boss doesn’t complete his work on time “He is busy”. I understand, the position makes a difference, but everyone is using Laziness in a negative way to belittle others.

According to me, being lazy has its own advantages.

Let’s explore, what does a lazy person do? Sits idle, works slowly take time off to relax…

Now let’s evaluate, Sits idle. I think this is good. Sitting idle means our mind is free from stress. When we are not busy, our mind gets free time to stare & wander. Remember Isaac Newton. He was just sitting idle under a tree. He was staring while his mind was wandering. And rest is history. We all know the result of it!

Now second on our list, Works slowly. Remember Slow & steady wins the race. Remember we were always told to chew slowly while eating & also remember we were taught to slow down & focus! We can conclude that doing things slowly leads to great results.

And now the last one here, taking time off. Let’s see, I can think of Cinderella. How she was made to work hard the whole day in dirty clothes. And how she wished to get just a night off to relax, get dressed & dance. And look what happened! By taking a night off to relax & dance, she got a prince.

After a little research, I can say that the greatest inventions are made by people who were too lazy to work hard. We have vehicles invented because someone did not want to walk, we have remote controls invented because someone did not want to get up to change channels on TV. We also have mixers & grinders invented because someone was too lazy to crush & pound. And all these inventors proved to be geniuses.

Maybe, being lazy isn’t so bad after all.
